[189] Bhikkhus, there are these four things to be realized (sacchikaraṇīyā dhammā). What four? There are, bhikkhus, things to be realized with the body; there are, bhikkhus, things to be realized with mindfulness; there are, bhikkhus, things to be realized with the eye; there are, bhikkhus, things to be realized with wisdom (paññā). And what, bhikkhus, are the things to be realized with the body? The eight liberations (vimokkha), bhikkhus, are to be realized with the body. And what, bhikkhus, are the things to be realized with mindfulness? One's past abodes (pubbenivāsa), bhikkhus, are to be realized with mindfulness. And what, bhikkhus, are the things to be realized with the eye? The passing away and reappearing of beings, bhikkhus, is to be realized with the eye. And what, bhikkhus, are the things to be realized with wisdom? The destruction of the taints (āsava), bhikkhus, is to be realized with wisdom. These, bhikkhus, are the four things to be realized.
