[372] Bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu contemplating Nibbāna as suffering (dukkha) will come to possess acceptance in conformity (anulomikā khanti) — this is impossible. That one not possessing acceptance in conformity will enter the fixed course of rightness (sammattaniyāma) — this is impossible. That one not entering the fixed course of rightness will realize the fruition of stream-entry (sotāpattiphala), the fruition of once-returning (sakadāgāmiphala), the fruition of non-returning (anāgāmiphala), or arahantship (arahatta) — this is impossible.
Bhikkhus, that a bhikkhu contemplating Nibbāna as happiness will come to possess acceptance in conformity — this is possible. That one possessing acceptance in conformity will enter the fixed course of rightness — this is possible. That one entering the fixed course of rightness will realize the fruition of stream-entry, the fruition of once-returning, the fruition of non-returning, or arahantship — this is possible.
