[382] "Bhikkhus, there are these three dhammas. What three? The element of sensuality (kāmadhātu), the element of ill will (byāpādadhātu), and the element of cruelty (vihiṃsādhātu). These, bhikkhus, are the three dhammas. For the abandoning of these three dhammas, bhikkhus, three dhammas should be developed. What three? For the abandoning of the element of sensuality, the element of renunciation (nekkhammadhātu) should be developed; for the abandoning of the element of ill will, the element of non-ill will (abyāpādadhātu) should be developed; for the abandoning of the element of cruelty, the element of non-cruelty (avihiṃsādhātu) should be developed. For the abandoning of these three dhammas, bhikkhus, these three dhammas should be developed."
