[117] Bhikkhus, there are these eight powers. What eight? Crying, bhikkhus, is the power of children; anger is the power of women; weapons are the power of thieves; sovereignty is the power of kings; fault-finding is the power of fools; careful consideration is the power of the wise; reflection is the power of the learned; patience (khanti) is the power of ascetics and brahmins.
