[165] Bhikkhus, there are these eight noble modes of speech (ariyavohāra). What eight? Speaking of what has not been seen as not seen; speaking of what has not been heard as not heard; speaking of what has not been sensed as not sensed; speaking of what has not been cognized as not cognized; speaking of what has been seen as seen; speaking of what has been heard as heard; speaking of what has been sensed as sensed; speaking of what has been cognized as cognized. These, bhikkhus, are the eight noble modes of speech.
