[192] "'Ascetic' (samaṇa), bhikkhus, is a designation (adhivacana) of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Brahmin' (brāhmaṇa), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Knowledge-master' (vedagū), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Physician' (bhisakka), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Stainless' (nimmala), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Immaculate' (vimala), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Possessor of knowledge (ñāṇa)' (ñāṇī), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One. 'Liberated' (vimutta), bhikkhus, is a designation of the Tathāgata, the Arahant, the Fully Self-Enlightened One.
What is to be done by an ascetic, by a brahmin who has lived the life fulfilled;
what is to be attained by a knowledge-master, the unsurpassed [goal to be attained] by a physician;
what is to be attained by the stainless one, by the immaculate one who has lived the life fulfilled;
and what is to be attained by the possessor of knowledge, the unsurpassed [goal to be attained] by the liberated one —
that I [have accomplished]: victorious in battle,
myself released, I release others from bondage;
I am a nāga, supremely tamed,
one beyond training, attained to final Nibbāna.
