[8] Bhikkhus, there are these seven fetters (saṃyojana). What seven? The fetter of attraction (anunaya), the fetter of repulsion (paṭigha), the fetter of views (diṭṭhi), the fetter of doubt (vicikicchā), the fetter of conceit (māna), the fetter of lust for existence (bhavarāga), and the fetter of ignorance (avijjā). These, bhikkhus, are the seven fetters.
