[106] Bhikkhus, there are these ten grounds for the wearing away (nijjarā) of things. What ten? For one of right view (sammādiṭṭhi), bhikkhus, wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi) is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong view as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right view as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right thought (sammāsaṅkappa), bhikkhus, wrong thought is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong thought as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right thought as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right speech (sammāvācā), bhikkhus, wrong speech is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong speech as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right speech as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right action (sammākammanta), bhikkhus, wrong action is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong action as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right action as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right livelihood (sammā-ājīva), bhikkhus, wrong livelihood is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong livelihood as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right livelihood as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right effort (sammāvāyāma), bhikkhus, wrong effort is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong effort as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right effort as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right mindfulness (sammāsati), bhikkhus, wrong mindfulness is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong mindfulness as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right mindfulness as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right concentration (sammāsamādhi), bhikkhus, wrong concentration is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong concentration as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right concentration as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right knowledge (sammāñāṇa), bhikkhus, wrong knowledge is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong knowledge as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right knowledge as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. For one of right deliverance (sammāvimutti), bhikkhus, wrong deliverance is worn away; and the many bad, unwholesome states that come into being with wrong deliverance as condition — these too are worn away for him; and with right deliverance as condition, many wholesome states go to fulfillment by development. These, bhikkhus, are the ten grounds for wearing away.
