[40] "But, venerable sir, when one has made a divided Saṅgha harmonious, what does one generate?"
"One generates divine merit (brahmaṃ puññaṃ), Ānanda."
"But what, venerable sir, is divine merit?"
"One rejoices in heaven for an eon (kappa), Ānanda."
Happy is the concord of the Saṅgha,
and the support of those who dwell in concord;
one who delights in concord, established in the Dhamma,
does not fall away from security from bondage (yogakkhema);
having made the Saṅgha harmonious,
one rejoices in heaven for an eon.
