[78] Bhikkhus, the Nigaṇṭhas are possessed of ten bad qualities (asaddhamma). Which ten? The Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, are without faith (assaddhā); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, are immoral (dussīlā); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, are shameless (ahirikā); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, are without fear of wrong-doing (anottappino); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, are devoted to bad persons (asappurisabhattino); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, extol themselves and disparage others (attukkaṃsakaparavambhakā); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, adhere to their own views, grasp them tenaciously, and relinquish them with difficulty (sandiṭṭhiparāmāsi-ādhānaggāhi-duppaṭinissaggino); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, are deceitful (kuhakā); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, have evil desires (pāpicchā); the Nigaṇṭhas, bhikkhus, hold wrong view (micchādiṭṭhikā). It is with these ten bad qualities, bhikkhus, that the Nigaṇṭhas are possessed.
