[106] Then those bhikkhus, having learned this verse in the presence of the Blessed One, rebuked in return with this verse those people who, on seeing bhikkhus, abused, reviled, provoked, and harassed them with vulgar and harsh words: The speaker of untruth goes to hell (niraya), as does one who, having done a deed, says, "I did not do it"; both of these, having passed away, become equal— people of base deeds in the world beyond.
