[125] 9. Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Blessed One was wandering on tour among the Kosalans together with a large Saṅgha of bhikkhus. Now on that occasion a number of youths were passing by not far from the Blessed One, making a loud noise. The Blessed One saw those youths passing by not far away, making a loud noise. Then the Blessed One, having understood this matter, on that occasion uttered this inspired utterance (udāna): "Muddled in mind, though wearing the semblance of the wise, speakers whose only resort is talk, they stretch their mouths as far as they wish — by what they are led, they do not know." The Ninth.
