[203] This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard:
"Bhikkhus, for a person who has transgressed one thing, I say there is no evil deed (pāpakamma) whatsoever that he would not do. What is that one thing? It is this, bhikkhus: deliberate false speech (sampajānamusāvāda)."
The Blessed One spoke this meaning. In connection with that, this is said:
"For one who has transgressed one thing—
for the being who speaks falsely,
who has forsaken the world beyond—
there is no evil he would not do."
This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard. The fifth.
