[230] 3. This indeed was said by the Blessed One, said by the Arahant, so I have heard: "Bhikkhus, there are these three feelings (vedanā). What three? Pleasant feeling (sukhā vedanā), painful feeling (dukkhā vedanā), and neither-painful-nor-pleasant feeling (adukkhamasukhā vedanā). These, bhikkhus, are the three feelings." The Blessed One spoke this meaning. With reference to this, it is said: "Concentrated (samāhita), clearly comprehending (sampajāna), mindful (sata), the disciple of the Buddha understands feelings and the origin of feelings, where these cease, and the path (magga) leading to their destruction. With the destruction of feelings, a bhikkhu, hungerless, is fully quenched (parinibbuta)." This meaning too was spoken by the Blessed One; so I have heard. The third.
