[441] This the Blessed One spoke while dwelling among the Magadhans at the Pāsāṇa Shrine (Pāsāṇacetiya): requested by the sixteen attendant brahmins, he answered their questions. If one should understand the meaning and understand the Dhamma of even a single one of these questions, and should practice in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammānudhamma), one would surely go to the far shore of aging and death. "These dhammas lead to the far shore" — therefore "Pārāyana" (the Way to the Far Shore) is the very designation of this exposition of the Dhamma.
