[86] When this was said, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Meghiya: "Wait a while, Meghiya; I am alone for now — wait until some other bhikkhu comes." A second time the Venerable Meghiya said to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, for the Blessed One there is nothing further that should be done, nor any increasing of what has been done; but for me, venerable sir, there is something further that should be done, and there is an increasing of what has been done. If, venerable sir, the Blessed One allows me, I would go to that mango grove for striving (padhāna)." A second time the Blessed One said to the Venerable Meghiya: "Wait a while, Meghiya; I am alone for now — wait until some other bhikkhu comes." A third time the Venerable Meghiya said to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, for the Blessed One there is nothing further that should be done, nor any increasing of what has been done; but for me, venerable sir, there is something further that should be done, and there is an increasing of what has been done. If the Blessed One allows me, I would go to that mango grove for striving." "When you speak of striving, Meghiya, what can we say? Do now, Meghiya, what you think it is time to do."
