[135] "Sixty thousand years, complete in every way,
have we been cooked in hell (niraya): when will there be an end?
"There is no end. Whence an end? No end is in sight;
for so, dear sir (mārisa), was the evil wrought by me and by you.
"We lived an ill life: we who did not give what was there;
though gifts fit to be given (deyyadhamma) were at hand, we made no island for ourselves.
"Surely, when I have gone from here and obtained a human birth,
I shall be open-handed (vadaññū), accomplished in virtue (sīla), and do abundant wholesome deeds (kusala)."
