[137]
Like the roars of lions, fanged beasts, in a mountain cave,
hear the verses (gāthā) of those whose selves have been developed (bhāvitatta) —
verses leading onward to the goal (attha).
As was their name, as was their clan,
as was their dwelling in the Dhamma,
as they were resolved — possessed of wisdom (paññā),
they dwelt unwearied;
having seen with insight here and there,
having touched the imperishable state,
reviewing the task brought to its end,
they spoke this meaning.
