"O you in yellow garments, with yellow banners,
adorned with yellow ornaments —
even unadorned with lovely yellow raiment
you shine.
Who are you, wearing armlets of gold,
adorned with a golden chaplet,
covered over with a netting of gold,
garlanded with many kinds of gems?
Some are wrought of gold and some of ruby,
some of pearl and some of beryl;
there are cat's-eye gems together with rubies,
variegated with gems like pigeons' eyes.
Here one and another has the sweet voice of the peacock,
of the royal swan, the sweet voice of the karavīka;
the sound of them is heard, lovely in its form,
like fivefold instrumental music being played.
And your chariot, splendid and lovely,
its parts inlaid with various gems,
shines as though well apportioned
with elements (dhātu) of diverse hues.
Standing in that chariot, hued like a golden image,
you illuminate this region.
O devatā, being asked, declare:
of what deed (kamma) is this the fruit?"
"A netting of gold, inlaid with gems and gold,
inlaid with pearls, covered with a mesh of gold —
when Gotama, the Immeasurable One, had attained final Nibbāna,
with a confident mind (citta) I laid it upon him.
Having done that wholesome (kusala) deed,
praised by the Buddha,
free from sorrow, happy,
I rejoice, free from disease."
