[68] 4. "Just as the moon, in a sky free of clouds,
stands shining in the firmament,
even so this celestial mansion (vimāna) of yours
stands shining in the firmament.
You have attained divine power (deva-iddhi), one of great might.
When you were a human being, what merit (puñña) did you make?
By what is your might thus ablaze,
and your radiance (vaṇṇa) shines in all directions?"
That young deva (devaputta), gladdened, questioned by Moggallāna,
… of what deed this is the fruit:
"I and my wife, in the human world (manussaloka),
gave a lodging (upassaya) to an arahant;
and food and drink, with confident minds (pasanna-citta),
we respectfully gave as an abundant gift (dāna).
Because of that my radiance is such …
