[1109] In this very city I was born into a certain family;
I was a worker for others, a hired servant, restrained by virtue (sīla).
As I was going out to my work, I saw four ascetics (samaṇa),
accomplished in conduct and virtue, grown cool, free from taints (āsava).
Having made my mind (citta) confident in them, I seated them upon a spread of leaves,
and, full of confidence, with my own hands I gave kummāsa to the Buddhas.
Of that wholesome deed (kamma), this is such a fruit for me:
I enjoy this prosperous kingdom, supreme upon the earth.
