[1386] My fathers and my grandfathers were faithful, lords of giving (dānapati), responsive to entreaty (vadaññū); conforming to that family custom — 'may I not be the last stench (antimagandhī) of the family!' — and loathing such talk, though unwilling, I give this gift.
