Uddālakajātaka

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (1) · Vol. 27 · Section 1919

[1919] Khattiyas, brahmins, vessas, suddas, caṇḍālas, and pukkusas — all alike, when gentle and tamed, all alike attain final Nibbāna (parinibbutā); among all who have become cool (sītibhūta) there is none better and none worse. [And yet] you practice the extolled brahminhood (brahmañña) — the heritage of a sotthiya (Vedic-scholar) family's line (sotthiyakulavaṃsatā).
