[1936] On account of sensual pleasures (kāma), truly, beings are slain and bound;
from sensual pleasures are born suffering (dukkha) and peril;
in sensual pleasures, O lord of beings (bhūtādhipati), the heedless
commit evil deeds out of delusion (moha).
They, of evil nature, having engendered evil,
with the breakup of the body go to hell (niraya);
having seen the danger in the strands of sensual pleasure (kāmaguṇa),
therefore seers do not praise sensual pleasures.
