[2002] Hard to find, Your Majesty (deva), are brahmins (brāhmaṇā) who are virtuous and of great learning,
abstaining from sexual intercourse (methunā dhammā), who might eat your food.
Ten indeed, great king, are those that are the classes of brahmins;
hear from me in detail the classification and examination of them.
Taking bags full of roots, fastened shut,
they tie on herbs, administer bathings, and mutter charms.
They too, O king, though they are but the equals of physicians, are called brahmins.
They have been declared to you, great king — shall we resort to such as these?
