[2024] Having seen you, of delicate form, come from the kingdom into the wilderness —
you who were endowed with a fine peaked mansion and accustomed to a great couch¹ —
out of affection I gave to such a one as you choice boiled rice,²
an exquisite meal of sāli rice with a sauce of pure meat.³
Having accepted that meal, you bestowed it upon the brahmin,⁴
without eating of it yourself — what dhamma is this? Homage be to you!
