[2153] There was a king named Bhallātiya:
leaving his realm behind, he went out hunting deer.
He came to Gandhamādana, most excellent of mountains,
in full bloom, frequented by kiṃpurisas.
Having held back his pack of hounds
and laid aside his bow and quiver,
he drew near, wishing to speak a word,
to where the kiṃpurisas stood.
"Now that the winter is past, on the bank of the Hemavatā,
why do you stand here conversing together so constantly?
I ask you, who have the appearance of human bodies:
how do they know you in the world of humans?"
