[2288] One wise who has understood thus the wasting away and the passing of life
is a knower of all dhammas (sabbadhammaṃ):
no evil is heaped up for that man,
if he does not intend the death of another.
O lady renowned among the company of seers, known thus as one beneficial to the world,
in reviling [me] so ignobly you are courting an evil deed.
If I should die upon your bank, O lady of broad and shapely hips,
then beyond doubt, when I have passed away, ill repute will come upon you.
Therefore, O fair-waisted lady, guard against the evil deed,
lest afterwards, when I am dead, all the people reproach you.
