[2335] From here, straight toward the northern quarter,
beyond seven mighty mountains,
stands that lofty mountain named Suvaṇṇapassa,
in full blossom, frequented by kimpurisas.
Climb that rocky mount, the abode of the kinnaras,
and look down upon the foot of the mountain:
then you will see, in hue like a cloud,
a royal banyan tree with eight thousand trunks.
There dwells the six-tusked elephant,
all white, hard for others to assail;
eight thousand elephants guard him,
with tusks like chariot-poles, striking with the speed of the wind.
There they stand, snorting tumultuously;
they rage even at a wind that stirs;
but should they see a human being there,
they would reduce him to ashes — not even dust of him would remain.
