[2365] Do not think of him, "He is but a boy," without having questioned Sambhava;
having questioned Sambhava, you would know the meaning (attha) and the Dhamma, brahmin.
Just as the stainless moon, coursing through the element of space (ākāsadhātu),
outshines with its radiance all the hosts of stars in the world,
even so does Sambhava, young though he is, shine forth through his endowment of wisdom (paññā).
Do not think of him, "He is but a boy," without having questioned Sambhava;
having questioned Sambhava, you would know the meaning and the Dhamma, brahmin.
Just as the delightful month of the hot season, brahmin,
shines with its flowering trees far beyond the other months,
even so does Sambhava, young though he is, shine forth through his endowment of wisdom.
Do not think of him, "He is but a boy," without having questioned Sambhava;
having questioned Sambhava, you would know the meaning and the Dhamma, brahmin.
Just as Himavant, O brahmin, the mountain Gandhamādana,
covered over with trees of every kind, the abode of hosts of mighty beings,
shines to every quarter and wafts its fragrance abroad with its celestial herbs,
even so does Sambhava, young though he is, shine forth through his endowment of wisdom.

having questioned Sambhava, you would know the meaning and the Dhamma, brahmin.
Just as a fire, O brahmin, garlanded with flames, glorious,
blazing through wood and thicket, insatiate, black-trailed,
the devourer of ghee, the smoke-bannered, burner of the lofty forest,
shines at night upon a mountain peak with abounding splendor,
even so does Sambhava, young though he is, shine forth through his endowment of wisdom.

having questioned Sambhava, you would know the meaning and the Dhamma, brahmin.
By its speed they know a thoroughbred, and a draught-ox when it draws the load;
by her milk they know a milch cow, and a wise man when he speaks —
even so does Sambhava, young though he is, shine forth through his endowment of wisdom.
