"He who is the son of the King of Kāsi — him people know as Sotthisena;
I, Sambulā, am his wife: know it thus, O demon (dānava)!
I salute you, good sir — I am Sambulā; homage be to you!
The Videhan queen's son, good sir, dwells ailing in the forest;
him, overwhelmed by disease, I alone attend — him all alone.
And whatever I bring, gleaning through the forest — honey and meat, portions of wild game —
that alone is his food; surely today he must be growing faint."
