[2470] One should associate with the wise (buddhe), astute and of great learning;
one should be a learner and one who asks questions;
one should listen respectfully to well-spoken words:
a mortal who acts thus becomes wise.
That wise one regards the strands of sensual pleasure (kāmaguṇa)
as impermanent, as suffering (dukkha), and as disease;
seeing thus with insight, he abandons desire (chanda)
for sensual pleasures, which are painful and fraught with great peril.
Free from lust (rāga), having dispelled hatred (dosa),
he should develop a measureless mind (citta) of loving-kindness (mettā);
having laid down the rod toward all beings,
blameless, he attains the realm of Brahmā.
