[2476] Having heard the verses connected with the supreme goal (paramattha), well spoken by the wise sage, those glorious devas, thrilled and rejoicing, departed to the city of the devas. These verses, rich in meaning and well-phrased, well spoken by the wise sage — whoever should listen to them attentively, taking them to heart, would gain successive distinction, earlier and later; and having gained successive distinction, earlier and later, he would go beyond the sight of the King of Death (Maccurāja).
