"Do not recall the delights and sports
and the laughter of former times;
let not sensual pleasures (kāmā) slay you —
for truly delightful is the city of Sudassana.
Develop, rather, a mind of loving-kindness (mettacittaṃ),
boundless, by day and by night;
then you shall go to the city of the devas (devapuraṃ),
the abode of those of meritorious deeds (puññakammino)."

The wise parrot Jambuka, and Kuṇḍalinī [= the Tesakuṇa];
and the Jātaka of Alambusā, the excellent maiden;
the supreme, most excellent one bearing the glorious name of Saṅkha [= Saṅkhapāla];
and Sutasoma, tamer of foes (arindama), the noble king [= the Cullasutasoma].
The Cattālīsanipāta (the Book of Forties) is concluded.
