[285] "Well thought out is this craftiness against the crafty; a counter-snare has been laid — a fraud against the fraudulent. If mice could eat a plowshare,¹ why should hawks not carry off the boy?" ¹ Variant (Sī., Yu. editions): *adeyyuṃ* for *khādeyyuṃ*; both mean "would eat."
