[1068] My heart, my very eye, I would give: what is external wealth to me — silver or gold, pearls, beryl, or gems? When I see a supplicant come, my right arm or my left I would give and would not waver; my mind delights in giving (dāna). Let all the Sivis, if they will, banish me or slay me: never shall I desist from giving — let them cut me into seven pieces, if they will.
