[1098] Then King Vessantara, the warrior-ruler (khattiya), having given the gift, paid homage to his father and mother and made the rightwise circuit (padakkhiṇa) around them; swiftly mounting the chariot, the carriage yoked with its team of four, and taking his children and his wife, he set out for Mount Vaṅka.
