[1109] If the children saw fruit-laden trees in the great forest,
the children would weep for the sake of those fruits;
and seeing the children weeping, the towering trees,
stirred, would bend down of their own accord and come to the children.
Having seen this wonder, marvelous and hair-raising,
Maddī, beautiful in every limb, gave voice to acclamation (sādhukāra):
"A wonder indeed in the world, marvelous and hair-raising!
Through the power (teja) of Vessantara the trees have bent down of their own accord."
