Mahāvessantarajātaka

[1228] "Do not speak so, my dears! My heart is burning; my body is as though upon a funeral pyre; on my seat I find no ease. Do not speak so, my dears! You beget still more sorrow (soka) in me. I shall redeem you with wealth; you shall not be slaves. For what price, dear child, did your father give you to the brahmin (brāhmaṇa)? Tell me as it really is (yathābhūta); let them pay it over to the brahmin."
