Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (2) · Vol. 28 · Section 1254

[1254] As they were conversing together thus, their mother came into view — a king's daughter, at the mountain gate, going on foot, without sandals. And seeing her coming — their mother, who yearned for her son — Vessantara and Maddī went out to meet her and paid homage. And Maddī bowed with her head at the feet of her mother-in-law: "I, Maddī, your daughter-in-law, O noble lady, pay homage at your feet."
