[1256] Among the kinsfolk who had come together there arose a great clamor;
the mountains resounded, and the earth was shaken;
sending forth a torrent of rain, the deva rained down at that very moment.
Then King Vessantara came together with his kinsfolk:
the grandchildren, the daughter-in-law, the son, the king, and the queen — all in one place.
When they had thus come together, then there was a hair-raising moment;
with joined palms they beseech him, weeping in the fearsome forest.
All those assembled from the realm [beseech] Vessantara and Maddī:
"You are our lord, the king; may you both exercise kingship over us."
The Chapter named the Six Khattiyas (Chakkhattiyapabba).
