Mahāhaṅsajātaka

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (2) · Vol. 28 · Section 199

[199] These swans (haṃsa) fly away, the crook-necked birds, driven by fear; O golden-skinned, golden-hued one — depart, Sumukha, as you please. Abandoning me, who alone have gone into the power of the snare, the flocks of my kinsmen go off unconcerned; why do you alone remain behind? Fly, O best of those that fly! There is no companionship in one who is bound; do not forfeit your freedom from affliction — depart, Sumukha, as you please.
