[202] While these noble ones of noble conduct were conversing together thus, the hunter, seizing his club, came rushing upon them in great haste. Seeing him rushing on, Sumukha uttered a loud cry; the goose stood before the king, reassuring the trembling one: "Fear not, O best of flying creatures; for those such as you do not fear. I shall apply a fitting endeavor, one in keeping with righteousness (dhamma); by that consummate deed you shall swiftly be freed from the snare."
