At the word of the brahmins you had this Khema [pond] made,
and safety was proclaimed by you throughout these ten directions.
Plunging into your lotus pond of limpid, pure water —
abundant food is there, and here no harm befalls the birds.
Having heard this proclamation, we came into your presence,
and here we are, bound by your snare: that word of yours was false.
Putting false speech (musāvāda) foremost, together with evil desire and greed,
one passes beyond both junctures [of rebirth] and arises in a joyless state.
