[319] Then, when the night had passed, toward the rising of the sun, Kāḷa, taking the cook with him, approached the king; and having approached, he spoke these words to the king: "Is it true, as they say, great king, that the cook has been sent by you, that he slays women and men, and that you eat their flesh?"
