Mahāsutasomajātaka

Suttapiṭaka · Khuddakanikāya · Jātaka (2) · Vol. 28 · Section 382

[382] They give up life itself — this is the way (dhamma) of the good (santo); the good are indeed true to their promise. Having granted a boon, deliver it swiftly; by this, O most excellent of kings, be perfect. One should give up wealth for the sake of a precious limb; guarding one's life, one should give up a limb; limb, wealth, and even life — all of it — a man should give up, recollecting the Dhamma.
