[440] "The elephant corps and the chariot corps,
horses, foot-soldiers, and shield-bearing men,
and delightful dwellings —
these, son, I give to you.
I give you too the women of the harem (itthāgāra),
adorned with every ornament:
take charge of them, son —
you shall be our king.
Four women, skilled in dance and song
and thoroughly trained,
will delight you with sensual pleasures (kāma) —
what will you do in the forest?
From rival kings I shall bring
maidens for you, fully adorned;
and when you have begotten sons upon them,
then afterwards you shall go forth.
You are young, a tender youth,
a stripling in the first stage of life:
rule the kingdom — blessings upon you!
What will you do in the forest?
The granary and the treasury,
mounts and armed forces,
and delightful dwellings —
these, son, I give to you.
Encircled by herds of cattle,
attended by throngs of serving-women,
