[521] Even a living man, great king, one gripped by severe feeling (vedanā), his mind's intent brought to a standstill — though living, he is deemed dead. Even a living man, great king, one gripped by severe feeling, when he has passed into cessation (nirodha) — though living, he is deemed dead.
