[532] Sirs, as many as are gathered here, attend to this: the manifold praise, both high and low, of righteous people — how this King Nimi, a wise man seeking the wholesome (kusala), the king of all the Videhans, a tamer of foes, gave gifts (dāna); and how, as he was giving that gift, this thought (saṅkappa) arose in him: "Giving, or the holy life (brahmacariya) — which, indeed, is of great fruit?"
