[607] "You know well, O king: Cūḷanī Brahmadatta
is of great majesty and great might;
and that king desires your death,
as a hunter [desires] a deer's by means of a decoy.
Just as a fish, greedy for raw flesh,
knows not the bent hook
concealed with flesh —
the fish knows not its own death —
even so you, O king,
greedy with lust, know not
the daughter of Cūḷanī —
like the fish, you know not your own death.
If you go to Pañcāla,
swiftly you will forfeit your very self;
like a deer that has come onto the road,
you will meet with great peril."
